Grade 8 Laptop Pod

The Grade 8 Laptop Pod is a NEW Grade 8 program at THSS for 2010-2011.
 
Students bring their OWN laptop to school. Students are placed into a Laptop POD (ALL students will have their own laptop). Students attend classes at THSS like all other students and complete the same curriculum.
 
WHY BE PART OF THIS PROGRAM? School district 42 has had a 1-to-1 laptop program for students in grade 6 & 7 for over 5 years and have documented many educational advantages to student learning.
 
EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS OF USING A LAPTOP:
-improved academic performance (improved grades)
-improved writing (more willing to write and edit own writing)
-improved organizational skills & assignment completion
-Improve student engagement
-Broaden learning beyond the classroom
